First Look?

Two marriers stand facing each other under a willow tree. One marrier wearing a white dress wipes a tear off of the cheek of the other who is wearing a blue jumpsuit.

One of the many decisions you’ll need to make during the wedding planning process is whether or not you want to have a first look or not! My guidance to my couples is: you have options, and I definitely do not recommend that the first time you see each other on your wedding day is walking down the aisle. Seeing each other before the aisle gives you the opportunity to take some great pictures in your wedding finery without your guests waiting too long for dinner after the ceremony. This also gives you a chance to have some private time with your sweetie to ease the nerves of the ceremony!

Alternative ideas to seeing each other at the aisle first:

  1. First Look

Get ready separately and then have a sweet, photographed moment just the two of you where you get to see each other all dressed up before you jump into the rest of the day!

  2. Get Ready Together

I love this one. Who says you even have to get ready in separate places? Spend time getting ready together. This makes for great photos and really sweet moments between you of clasping necklaces and adjusting ties and other such cuteness.

  3. Don’t Worry About It

It’s okay if you don’t want to have getting ready photos or a big ceremonious first look. No one but you gets to decide what is an important part of your day! You can just get ready and be there, together, to enjoy your day.
